    Say Hello to Diphthong Words

    A diphthong is a Greek word meaning 'having two sounds.' Mostly, it's a vowel sound and can be categorized as a long vowel sound or short vowel sound.

    For example, 'oil' is a very simple English word having two vowels, o and i. And these two together create the sound for the word oil.

    One of the easiest ways to recognize a diphthong is to listen to a word closely. If you feel that the vowel's sound is different, you have landed yourself with a diphthong.

    Have Fun with Diphthong Words

    There are several fun ways to learn diphthong words. Try to break the words and say them loudly. While breaking the words, your kids will understand the sound that these vowels are making.
