In the 2nd grade, kids understand basic mathematical concepts, and the art of telling time in AM and PM offers clarity on time-based problems. Although kids already harbor the skills of understanding time, they learn to categorize time in AM (Before noon) and PM(Afternoon) at this stage.

Interesting Time Games for 2nd Graders

On a daily basis, we use an analog clock that has only 12 marks for 12 hours. However, our days are 24 hours long. This means that an analog clock traces the entire circle twice to complete one day.

As a result, 12:00 is the time that appears twice in a day, similar to any other time in a 12-hour analog clock. The difference here is 12 in the noon or 12 in the night.

When we refer to 12 in the noon, it is 12 PM, and all consecutive time expressions after this are represented in PM only.

However, once the clock hits 12 in the night again, we are in 12 AM time, and after this, time expressions are in AM till noon again.

Practicing this complicated concept can be challenging for your child, which is why we have two interactive educational games for 2nd-grade kids.

It can be difficult to identify the time in AM and PM because the same time appears twice a day. Further, AM and PM times are spread throughout the day. For example, 9 in the night is expressed in PM, but 12 in the night is expressed in AM. Therefore, your child can face difficulty in rightly categorizing time in AM or PM.

Eliminate Issues With Interactive Learning Methods

To eliminate the issue, create two separate clocks with AM and PM markings on them. When the one clock finishes AM time, let the other clock begin. This will allow your child to relate AM and PM correctly.
