    Teach Words with UR - the SplashLearn Way!

    It is a proven fact when children are taught with activities, they are more than ready to participate. Children retain information better when learning is fun. Children are all set to learn different words when they can divide the words into their different sounds. R is usually the third syllable that has to be taught. The phonograms of UR are very tricky because it makes the same sound as ER and IR. You need to highlight the visual memory of UR and weigh it much more than usual reading.

    The most common of ER and UR is ER, followed by UR. You need to help the kids remember the schwa patterns, known as the lazy vowel patterns along with a few exceptions. The “U” is not pronounced as “YOO” when it is blended with R. The sound of UR becomes UR like “er,” as we say err but with just one sound of r.

    Learning can be overwhelming for your child at any grade. Here, parents can best focus on the spelling pattern. A proper drill and practice of these sounds with frequent assessments can help them acquire these morphology constructs much better.
